The Cal State Fullerton Police Department sent a Clery Timely Warning email at approximately 10:50 p.m. Wednesday regarding a report of a sexual assault that occurred inside an on-campus student residence building.
The email states that CSUF PD was notified Wednesday evening of an alleged sexual assault by someone unknown to the victim that occurred at approximately 11 a.m. that day.
According to Sergeant Christopher Brown, public information officer at CSUF PD, the report was sent to the university police via a Campus Security Authority Report from the Office of Civil Rights and Equity (OCRE) after a Responsible Employee was made aware of the alleged incident and reported it to OCRE.
CSUF PD described the reported suspect in the notice as a male, approximately 20 years old, 6 feet, 3 inches tall, with very short black hair and wearing a black hoodie and gray sweatpants. Brown stated that there is currently insufficient information to confirm whether the suspect is a student at CSUF.
Information regarding specific locations of the alleged incident and details of the victim’s identity will not be disclosed due to privacy concerns for the victim.
Brown stated that CSUF PD does not currently have enough information about the reported incident to identify whether there is an active threat to on-campus residents and that the alert was sent out to bring awareness to the situation.
Those who witnessed the alleged incident or have additional information have been asked to contact CSUF Police Investigations at (657) 278-2902 to speak with Detective Amanda Peterson.
If you or anyone you know needs additional support, confidential and non-confiential campus resources are available, including OCRE, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and Campus Advocates within Sexual Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services.
