One person was arrested and another is being sought after San Gabriel police say they impersonated police officers and entered a home where they took firearms and cash last month.
According to the San Gabriel Police Department, officers responded to reports of a home invasion on the 900 block of Ramona Street at approximately 5 a.m. on Oct. 23.
Two people had claimed to have search warrants as they impersonated police officers. They took two firearms and $20,000 in cash from the home.
They fled the scene in a white Mercedes-Benz and a black Jeep, police said.
Authorities with the Detective Bureau, along with the assistance from the District Attorney’s Office Swat Team, served a search warrant a few weeks later and took one person into custody.
After conducting a search, officers found a fake agent badge and an ID card.
“We want to remind our community to stay vigilant and aware of your surroundings. If something doesn’t seem right, trust your instincts and call 9-1-1 immediately,” the department said in a social media post.
The second person still remains outstanding, police said.
