Firefighters were battling a half-acre brush fire in Highland Park Saturday.

The so-called Debs Fire was reported about 5:05 p.m. Saturday near the 200 block of South Avenue 52, at or near the Arroyo Seco Parkway (110) and Ernest E. Debs Regional Park, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

The fire was burning in light to medium vegetation, according to reports from the scene compiled by Watch Duty.

Five additional engines were requested shortly before 5:50 p.m., according to the wildfire reporting app.

No injuries were immediately reported and no structures were threatened.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
