A new event is bringing service members out of the city and onto horseback.
The first-of-its-kind Fleet Week event, called “Heroes and Horses,” is taking place at Ocean View Stables in Daly City.
A couple dozen service members are participating, with some riding horses along a trail down to the beach.
The experience grew out of the passion of a veteran-turned-business owner who found healing and purpose through horsemanship after his deployment to Afghanistan.
The event comes as Fleet Week gets underway in San Francisco with traditional activities including the air show and ship tours.
