FAIR OAKS, Calif. —
A charter school in Fair Oaks was evacuated Tuesday after a reported bomb threat, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.
A KCRA 3 crew at the scene observed that the California Montessori Project, American River Campus, on Kermit Lane was evacuated.
The sheriff’s office said its communications center was told around 1 p.m. that the school received the threat. Afterward, everyone was evacuated, and all students are accounted for.
Bomb-sniffing dogs were at the scene and searching the school, the sheriff’s office said.
This charter school is independent and not operated by the San Juan Unified School District, but it is located in a district-owned facility leased to the charter school.
The school later said in a statement that the threat was determined to be a hoax and there was no danger.
The lockdown has since been lifted. Students were dismissed early.
