Tuesday morning break-insĀ 

Silver Lake/Virgil Village— Two shops were burglarized about 15 minutes apart early Tuesday, according to Instagram posts. Surveillance cameras captured images of a man wearing a dark shirt and red backpack busting through the glass door at Barkeeper on Hoover Street at about 6:30 am and taking products and cash, according to the store’s Instagram post. The man then rides away on aĀ  bike. About 15 minutes earlier, a man wearing similar clothing shattered a glass door at Good Friend Coffee on Virgil Avenue. The only things he took were a blue hat and shirt. “We’re a small family run business,” said a post on the store’s Instagram. “Please don’t do this.”

Briciola opens on Sunset

Silver Lake—Briciola opened in mid-September in the former Spoon & Pork space on Sunset Boulevard, Eater LA reported. Restaurateur Mattia Raimondi and chef Matteo Di Nicola blend Italian dishes with Brazilian ingredients, including cavatappi with cachaƧa pink sauce. The pair previously operated Cedro in Newbury Park.

Designs on a new clothing boutique

Echo Park—New York designer Emily Dawn Long is teaming up with Kansas City boutique Mergers on a new store at 1543 Echo Park Ave., formerly home to Des Pair Books. The retail concept is expected to open in October, Fashionista reported. Mergers carries clothing from independent designers, along with objects and in-store projects.

Theater finds new home

Eagle Rock—Arroyo Repertory Theatre, a Pasadena-based nonprofit theater organization, has moving into a new home at Art on Fig, 7330 N. Figueroa St., at La Loma Road. The group and Lumina Dance have been renovating the space for full operations. Arroyo Repertory plans to stage ā€œOn Track!,ā€ a fall showcase featuring six original short plays developed through its writers’ and actors’ workshops.Ā

Spirit of spooky season

Los Feliz—Spirit Halloween has set up its seasonal costume and decoration shop in the former Rite Aid at 1637 N. Vermont Ave., according to its website.

Silver Lake—The KTLA news chopper was overhead as Trader Joe’s shoppers lined up to snag one of the market’s $3 Halloween-themed totes.Ā

Elysian Valley—Church Edit, a film editing company whose clients include Coca-Cola, Megan Thee Stallion, and The Sims, shows off its new headquarters next to the Los Angeles River. The converted industrial site still has its CMU block walls, exposed beams, and structural grid. Design Milk

Echo Park—The plans to replace Club Bahia with affordable housing have been fleshed out further, according to a new Planning Department document.Ā  In addition to 237 apartments, the proposed six-story complex at 1120-1166 W. Sunset Blvd. is to have 1,007 square feet of retail space and more than 140 parking spaces.

Silver Lake—Cortado LA is coming to Silver Lake Drive. The pop-up concept by actor Jhon MejĆ­a seems to be a gallery and cafe space, but no word on an official opening date just yet.
