A Pontiac man is scheduled to face an Oakland County Circuit Court judge Oct. 15 for arraignment on criminal charges for the fatal shooting of a Waterford Township man in July.
The case against Marquan DeAngelo Henderson, 23, was bound over from 50th District Court to the higher court on Wednesday at the conclusion of a preliminary exam before Judge Ronda Gross. Henderson is charged with second-degree murder and felony firearm for the death of Antwon Deshaun Herring, 23, on July 25. Herring was shot once in the head, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, and was subsequently transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Henderson was arrested at the scene of the shooting — a block party on Mariva Street in Pontiac— after identifying himself as the shooter, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies recovered a handgun from Henderson as evidence, the sheriff’s office said.
Henderson is held in the Oakland County Jail, denied bond. His case is assigned to Judge Jeffery Matis.
Second-degree murder is punishable by up to life in prison. Felony firearm carries a mandatory two years incarceration consecutive to any other related sentence.
