Visitors to Little Tokyo can find so many delightful diversions on any day of the calendar, including delicious meals, anime pop-ups, desserts that please the eye and palate, important art exhibitions, pleasing pastries, and legacy shops that have served the community for decades.

But when October reaches its second half, a certain spectral aura settles into the shop-and-restaurant-filled area found around Alameda and 1st Streets.

This thrilling change in the air can be atmospherically attributed to Haunted Little Tokyo, a joyful and slightly chilling group of events that add fall flavor to the neighborhood calendar.

As in past years, a couple of Haunted Little Tokyo offerings will be complimentary, including the perfect-for-families Scavenger Hunt on Oct. 24.

Terasaki Budokan is presenting the free fun, which will find kids and grown-ups moving around the neighborhood and collecting stamps along the way.

It’s a daytime happening, starting at 11 a.m., and you can find more information, including how to RSVP, at this site.

There is also a free event made for the grown-up set, as in revelers who are 21 and older. As in years gone by, the exact location will remain hush-hush, but RSVPing will eventually give you the details you seek.

This is a Halloween night affair, so make room on your Oct. 31 schedule to party at this long-running Little Tokyo tradition.

And the ticketed event on the line-up, the one you’ll definitely want to book in advance as spots do sell out? Haunted Little Tokyo has become synonymous with a great ghost tour, a stroll-around that looks into the otherworldly energy of the district.

The tours head out at 5 p.m. on Oct. 24 and a ticket is $25. Meet up at Union Center for the Arts for one of the most ethereal experiences offered in Little Tokyo, a one-night-only adventure that connects past, present, and the beyond.
