SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
R.L. Stine, one of the biggest horror writers of all time, made a stop in Sacramento Wednesday for a Halloween-themed event.
The Crest Theater hosted a special question-and-answer session with Stine alongside “Reading Rainbow” host and Fairfield native Mychal Threets. Stine, known for his wildly successful “Goosebumps” series that spans dozens of books, movies, and TV shows, spoke about the teachers who inspired him when he was young.
“My teachers would say, ‘What are you doing? Stop writing those dumb little stories and do your schoolwork.’ If they hadn’t said that, I might have stopped. I’m very grateful for those teachers,” Stine said.
The Sacramento Public Library organized the event as part of a series of “spooky” events planned for October.
