SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Police arrested a 42-year-old woman on suspicion of shooting and killing a security guard outside the Warfield Theatre early Saturday, according to San Francisco authorities.
Authorities identified the victim as 47-year-old Ulysses Tykee Davis, a Contra Costa County resident and father of six, also known as “Bear.” Police said he grew up in San Francisco’s Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood.
Video shows paramedics responding to the theater around 1 a.m. Saturday.

“This is heartbreaking and such a senseless crime,” San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said.
Jenkins announced that the suspect has been charged with murder.
“That murder charge has an accompanying personal use of a firearm enhancement, as well as intentional discharge of a firearm in an occupied building, and the final charge being a felon in possession of a firearm,” Jenkins said.
San Francisco police said Wednesday that the suspect was known to the department from previous crimes.

San Francisco police give an update on an arrest made in the deadly shooting of a security guard at the Warfield Theatre over the weekend.
Police Chief Derrick Lew said the suspect had been attending an event for the reality show “Baddies USA: Chapter 3,” which is known for confrontations and fights. Authorities said a disruption inside the venue preceded the shooting.
“There was a disruption inside of the club, and the suspect was brought outside at some point, and that, at some point, there was a dispute that led to this incident,” Lew said.
It remains unknown whether the venue had metal detectors.
San Francisco Supervisor Bilal Mahmood, who represents the district, said event organizers did not notify the San Francisco Police Department about the event in advance to arrange for increased security.
“Unfortunately, with this event, we weren’t given a heads up that that was happening. That is part of the challenge, so we are going to be working with the organizations who sponsor the event to ensure we at least we have a better heads up on these types of events that are coming,” Mahmood said.

The shooting has also renewed attention on safety in the area. Mahmood said officials had already been seeking additional security.
“We have been calling for that for some time, and we’ve been partnering with SFPD. And there were a couple incidents earlier this summer, and we have steadily increased more police presence,” Mahmood said.
SFPD confirmed it has increased police staffing in the Mid-Market area.
“We will continue to deploy officers to the Mid-Market area, including daytime foot beats who will work directly with our residents and venues,” Lew said.
The suspect has also been linked to the Rainbow Crew, a retail theft ring that targeted San Francisco and other cities across California in the 2010s.
We asked Jenkins if that criminal history would play a role in this case.
“I don’t have any reason to believe that that will play a factor in this prosecution necessarily, other than the fact that we were able to charge that particular count. We are focused on the evidence of what occurred the other night,” Jenkins said.
The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday. The district attorney is asking a judge to deny bail.
A GoFundMe was set up to help Davis’ family.
