Pacific Gas and Electric Company said it could activate its Public Safety Power Shutoff protocols on Friday afternoon through Monday to reduce the chance of its equipment sparking fires in California.
The planned power shutoffs will likely impact parts of 13 counties on Friday and Saturday, 17 counties on Sunday, and eight counties on Monday, PG&E said on its website.
PG&E’s weather team warned of a “period of dry and gusty northwesterly winds over elevated terrain in Shasta and Tehama counties and [the] western Sacramento Valley” on Friday.
Another period of “dry, northerly winds” in the western Sacramento Valley was expected on Sunday, PG&E said.
In all, about 12,200 customers could lose power, PG&E said.
See below for a list of counties that could be impacted and a map.
