Re “Supervisors OK limits on public comments” (Oct. 7): It chills the First Amendment rights of the general public to let a few frequent flyers monopolize public comment to engage in hate speech. Board Chair Terra Lawson-Remer’s three-item speaking limit doesn’t go far enough. Let members of the public speak at the podium once a month. Invite the frequent flyers to exercise their First Amendment rights by submitting their comments in writing. The agendas are published beforehand. It is not protecting First Amendment rights to allow 10 speakers to hog 44% of the public comments. These 10 speakers are no different than someone who yells “fire!” in a crowded theater.

Plus, it’s really boring to listen to their drivel.
