The San Francisco 49ers have made another defensive line move ahead of their Week 5 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. With the team preparing for a challenging divisional contest, the latest roster decision comes as San Francisco works to strengthen its options up front.

The latest transaction also brings attention to a veteran defender whose time with the team has come to an end.

Mykel Williams nears return for 49ers
The roster move creates a spot for defensive lineman Mykel Williams to return from the physically unable to perform list.
The former first-round pick has been working toward a return after missing the opening weeks of the season.
Williams recorded 20 tackles and one sack in nine games during his rookie season. He suffered the knee injury in November 2025 and has spent the offseason working toward his return.
