The woman who took off to Mexico during a pursuit that began in Ventura County on Monday has been arrested, the California Highway Patrol said.

Alyssa Wilson, 29, was arrested Tuesday when she reentered the U.S. after crossing into Mexico during a car chase the day prior. Sometime before 1 p.m., the driver returned to the U.S. via the San Ysidro Point of Entry in the Toyota Sienna she’s accused of stealing.

Law enforcement said the chase began just before 11 a.m. Monday after officials were notified of a van stolen from a recovery center in Thousand Oaks. Wilson, who police said took the van and traveled south for two hours, refused to yield to authorities and, at times, drove dangerously while trying to evade them.

The driver reached the border at about 1:30 p.m. and successfully entered Mexico after CHP discontinued the chase.

Upon Wilson’s return to the U.S. the next day, she was taken into custody and the stolen vehicle was recovered. The case remains under investigation.

Police said charges Wilson may face are pending.
