Del Mar Community Connections (DMCC) and the City of Del Mar invite residents and local pedestrians to participate in TREDWise, a free, one-hour interactive workshop dedicated to empowering pedestrians with essential roadway safety strategies. The workshop will be held on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 4:30 p.m. in Del Mar Town Hall (1050 Camino Del Mar). Designed for anyone who loves exploring Del Mar on foot, the session aims to help walkers navigate local streets, intersections, and crosswalks with total confidence and safety, according to a news release.

Led by California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Jared Grieshaber, the workshop will break down key traffic rules, clear up common safety misconceptions, and teach practical defensive walking techniques straight from law enforcement. Participants will also gain valuable insights from researchers at UC San Diego’s Training Research and Education for Driving Safety (TREDS) center, learning how to identify personal risk factors and stay vigilant against common pedestrian hazards.

The TREDWise workshop offers a welcoming environment for community members of all ages to refresh their safety knowledge and help make Del Mar’s walkways safer for everyone. To register, visit www.dmcc.cc/programregistration or contact the City of Del Mar at 858-755-9313.

The vision for the City of Del Mar is to be a residential community with a vibrant downtown and a tranquil place of natural beauty where residents and visitors feel safe and enjoy opportunities for recreation and quality of life, the news release stated.
