SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A massive fire tore through a two-story church in South Los Angeles overnight, and it wasn’t the first time the building has been engulfed in flames.

The fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. on South Paloma Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Strong winds at the time blew embers toward neighboring homes and forced firefighters to call for backup. No other structures caught fire.

Nearly 200 firefighters attacked the fire with streams of water, knocking down the flames in less than two hours. By the time the fire was extinguished, much of the building’s frame could be seen.

It’s at least the third time the church has burned in 13 years. Eyewitness News has video of the exact same structure on fire in 2013.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
