Sacramento Regional Transit’s Green Line is back in service on Monday after being shut down for more than a year because of major construction in the Railyards.
The reopening restores direct light rail service between downtown Sacramento and the 7th and Richards/Township 9 Station in the River District.
The Green Line had been suspended since June 2025 while crews completed track and station work connected to the new 7th and Railyards Station and surrounding construction.
The Township 9 station serves the River District and the May Lee State Office Complex.
“The return of the Green Line is an important milestone for our riders and for the continued transformation of the Railyards and River District,” SacRT General Manager and CEO Henry Li said in a statement.
While Green Line trains are now running, SacRT’s new 7th and Railyards Station will not open to passengers until Thursday, Oct. 15.
The new station is located at 7th Street and Railyards Boulevard and will become SacRT’s 55th light rail station. It is expected to provide greater transit access to the growing Railyards area.
Bus Route 11 also returned to its regular service Monday.
SacRT had increased weekday service on Route 11 during the Green Line suspension to give riders another way to travel between downtown Sacramento and the Richards Boulevard area.
With Green Line service restored, that temporary expanded bus service has ended.
SacRT said the project is part of a larger investment in improving transit access to the Railyards and River District as both areas continue to develop.
Green Line schedules, Route 11 information and details about the new station are available on SacRT’s website.
