An abandoned church in the historic South Central area of Los Angeles caught on fire overnight.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire began at around 3:30 a.m. on the 2600 block of Paloma Street.
The Crouch Memorial Church of God and Christ was already causing concern among residents who say the abandoned structure has become a site for squatters and illegal dumping.
It had caught on fire twice before, in 2024 and in 2013 and has since sustained major damage.
Over 100 firefighters arrived on the scene to try to stop the flames from reaching nearby homes.
A woman who was described as a resident who was in the area was evaluated. No firefighters were injured in the fire.
It was not clear what caused the fire. An arson team is investigating the incident.
