With the division races decided, it’s crossover week for the Oakland Activities Association.

Clarkston (OAA Red), Stoney Creek (White), Harper Woods (Blue) and Ferndale (Gold) finish as the league champs, and none of the four dropped a divisional game on their way to the titles. They’ll feature in some of the top contests.

Beyond them, the OAA’s Red and Blue teams will face off, then the White and Gold’s teams will square up. With uneven teams in some of the divisions, the Waterford rivalry game between Kettering and Mott will take place alongside those contests.

Here’s a rundown of a touchdown’s worth of the top crossovers being played between the OAA teams in Week 8, with factors including the teams involved as well as potential repercussions of wins and losses.

1. Harper Woods at Clarkston — To no surprise, the top billing of all the games, as it pits the fifth-ranked teams in D1 (the Wolves) and D3. The Pioneers’ only defeat this season was in the opener, a 27-20 loss to Chelsea, who themselves are ranked second in D3. In a handful of OAA Blue games, Harper Woods outscored its opposition 250-38. Everyone is familiar with Dakota Guerrant and Deandre Bidden, both top-50 recruits nationally, but the Pioneers go beyond that. Clarkston hasn’t lost a regular season game since a 27-21 loss to Harper Woods back on Sept. 5, 2025, so the Wolves will be hungry for revenge.

2. Stoney Creek at Ferndale — Like with any of these games, there’s no titles at stake, but a win in this game would really help either gain some serious respect considering the way each, like the other divisional winners, stood head and shoulders above the competition. Stoney outscored the other OAA White teams 191-27, and Ferndale beat Gold teams by a combined margin of 241-13, only allowing points to Royal Oak last Friday. The Eagles will have nothing to lose on home turf, but they’ve got talent to match.

3. Rochester Adams at Birmingham Seaholm — Have no fear, it’s the battle of the Veer! Maybe the OAA Red coaches were on to something when they voted the Highlanders in a tie for second place despite all the talent they graduated. They lost by seven to still undefeated Romeo, fell to Oxford by just a point, and their only other loss was to Clarkston. The Maples lost their opener to an LVC frontrunner, Milford, fell just 14-13 to Groves, then were defeated last week 47-7 by Harper Woods. That leaves both the Maples and Adams at 4-3 and looking hard for that coveted fifth win.

4. Lake Orion at Oak Park — The battle of the Dragons and Knights will favor the OAA Red team, but don’t overlook the latter. Like everyone else in the OAA Blue, Oak Park was handily dispatched by Harper Woods, but the Knights lost by just a combined three points in back-to-back losses to Seaholm and Groves. It’s a similar tune to last year when they lost four games by a combined 10 points. Each team comes in at 3-4 and likely needs this one for a chance at making the playoffs.

5. Rochester at Royal Oak — Royal Oak was in this position last year sitting at 4-3, then faced the Falcons in Week 8, losing that game and the season finale to Clawson. The Ravens brought back a majority of their players from 2025, but so did the Falcons, as did the Trojans, who they’ll again play in Week 9. Rochester should win this one, but it’s equally important for both with the Falcons also sitting at 4-3. The Ravens have heart, but having the size and strength to neutralize Rochester’s run will be the real challenge.

6. Oxford at Birmingham Groves — The Wildcats will be expected to roll here, and they’ve got far less on the line. They’re 6-1 and are just fighting for a better spot in the pecking order as playoff points and seeding go. The Falcons, however, probbly remain in need of another win. They’re 5-2, including a 14-13 loss to North Farmington back in Week 1, but still have to face Ferndale in Birmingham after Oxford. Groves sits comfortably in the middle of the D2 playoff field at the moment, but the Falcons would probably be on the border if they remain on five wins. Jeremiah Whitley is probably the best running back Oxford will have faced all year, so it’ll be a good test regardless.
