A San Diego man will spend six years in prison for a fatal altercation at a Hillcrest gas station last year.

Fifty-seven-year-old Solomon Guerrero received the sentence Monday after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter.Prosecutors say Guerrero strangled sixty-one-year-old Jerry Puerile during a fight outside a Washington Street Shell station, causing him to hit his head on the pavement.

Murder charges were twice dismissed by judges who agreed Puerile instigated the fight, but prosecutors bypassed them by securing a grand jury indictment before Guerrero accepted a plea deal.
