Netflix’s Untold documentary series plans to examine the case of Daejon Love, who is accused of posing as a San Francisco 49ers player and using fake investment accounts to defraud women.

The film, titled “Untold: Wide Deceiver,” will tell the story through firsthand accounts from Love’s alleged victims, according to Netflix’s announcement Wednesday, Oct. 14. The company has not said when the documentary will premiere.

The announcement came the same day federal prosecutors in Oregon said Love had been indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Love pleaded not guilty and was ordered held in custody pending trial, scheduled to begin Dec. 15, prosecutors said.

A criminal complaint filed in August accused Love and Taylor Chan of soliciting money from women for fictitious investments. Prosecutors said Love presented himself as a wealthy real estate investor or a current or former NFL player, while Chan allegedly posed as his financial adviser.

The complaint said investigators had identified 26 women and traced about $1.3 million in payments to the pair.

The indictment announcement names Love and a co-conspirator but does not mention Chan by name.

In September, the FBI said 35 additional women had come forward. Investigators were working to verify their accounts. If confirmed, the new reports would bring the potential number of victims to 61.

Netflix’s Untold series has covered sports-related stories including the “Malice at the Palace” brawl and the murder of former NFL quarterback Steve McNair.
