I am writing to express my outrage over the extraordinary noise pollution generated by the Niteharts Festival at Snapdragon Stadium.
From 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Oct. 9, the incessant, pounding bass reverberated across surrounding San Diego neighborhoods.
We live in Mission Hills, 3.67 miles from the stadium, yet the noise was so intrusive that we were forced to close every window and door in our home. Imagine what residents living closer endured!
Since when does a music festival’s commercial success supersede thousands of residents’ right to peace in their own homes?
Who authorized this? What decibel limits were imposed? Were they enforced? And who is accountable?
I have no objection to such events. But subjecting entire neighborhoods to seven consecutive hours of invasive, pounding noise is unacceptable.
San Diego residents deserve answers, not excuses.
I urge your staff to investigate how this was permitted and what will prevent it from happening again.
