FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The sandwiches hit different at Garlishious Deli at Fresno and P in Downtown Fresno.

Karla and Jesse Lugo’s signature spread is called “garlish.”

“We source California garlic,” Jesse said. “It has to be. We use organic sunflower oil, lemon juice is what preserves it. Then salt and parsley.”

“100% vegan, so it’s a healthy alternative for like mayo, butter, tartar sauce, ranch,” Karla said.

They insisted the OG was made for me.

“No one else has a guanciale sandwich,” Jesse said.

“It’s a premium bacon from the cheeks of the pig,” Karla said. “It’s phenomenal. Then we put ham, guanciale. So we’re going to put some gouda cheese. We do our own red pickled onions plus avocado, tomato and spinach.”

One spread has extra garlic.

“Dracula Slayer,” Karla said.

Their take on the turkey, bacon and avocado is called “The Gobbler.”

“This one we put with our award-winning cheese,” Karla said. “Swiss cheese. It has the bacon, it has the turkey.”

An accidental pairing is popular.

“It has bacon and prosciutto,” Jesse said. “Who puts bacon and prosciutto together right? So the name, only a ‘Drunk Italian’ would make such a sandwich.”

There’s also habanero sauce if you want to kick it up a notch.

Hobbs in Richmond provides the applewood smoked meats.
