A Los Angeles man was charged with attempted kidnapping and the alleged sex trafficking of young girls on the Figueroa Corridor.

Derrick Harrison Enrico Brooks, Jr., 31, of Baldwin Village, was charged with two counts of sex trafficking of children by force, fraud, or coercion, one count of distribution of controlled substances to a person under 21, and one count of attempted kidnapping, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

In November 2025, Brooks is accused of trafficking a 15-year-old girl whom he drove from California to Colorado for commercial sex work.

He advertised her on Craigslist and reportedly demanded that she earn $1,000 per day.

On several occasions, he allegedly assaulted her and at one point, the girl believed “she was going to die from his physical violence,” court documents said.

The girl eventually returned to the Los Angeles area and was forced to work on the Figueroa Corridor in South L.A., an area that is known for prostitution activity.

During this time, the girl was able to escape from Brooks and seek help.

In January and February of 2026, Brooks trafficked another victim, a 17-year-old girl who also worked on the Figueroa Corridor.

He is accused of physically assaulting her and providing her with Ecstasy (MDMA), prosecutors said.

In August 2026, Brooks is accused of assaulting a third victim. The woman escaped from his apartment after he reportedly choked her and punched her in the face.

She fled to a nearby mobile phone store in Baldwin Village, where he followed her and was accused of trying to kidnap her. Two weeks after the attempted kidnapping, Brooks was located and arrested.

On Oct. 15, 2026, Brooks appeared at an arraignment hearing in downtown Los Angeles where he pleaded not guilty to his charges. His trial is scheduled to begin on Dec. 1.

If convicted of all charges, he could face 15 years to life in federal prison. He remains in custody without bond.
