MALIBU, Calif. — A rapidly spreading wildfire has burned up to 200 acres in Malibu’s brush-filled mountains amid bone-dry conditions and powerful Santa Ana winds.
The Bryson Fire sparked Thursday around 4:40 p.m. and ballooned from two acres to 100 in less than two hours, prompting evacuation warnings and orders. Firefighters quickly deployed air assault with assistance from the Community Brigade, volunteers from the area who are trained to respond to wildland fires after the deadly and destructive 2018 Woolsey Fire.
