Tamara BergSACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Hundreds of kids laced up their shoes for a great cause at Caleb Greenwood Elementary on Friday.

The annual jog-a-thon raises money for the arts, music, and enrichment programs at the school.

Over the past few months, students have asked friends and family members to make a pledge to them based on how many laps they would complete or just make a flat donation.

The goal of the school is to raise $50,000. All of that money will be used to fund school enrichment projects, arts and music programs for the year.

PTSO jog-a-thon chair Kelly Parks said, “It’s one of the school’s largest fundraisers of the year.”

Each grade level takes a turn on the track to log laps throughout the day. The kids have also been training to do the jog-a-thon for the past few months.
