San Diego police have seized more than 450 packages of various illicit drugs that were being prepped to be shipped throughout the country via the U.S. mail, authorities said Wednesday.
Four people were arrested on felony drug-related charges as part of the investigation, while one was also charged with felony child abuse and misdemeanor possession of an unserialized gun, according to a complaint filed in San Diego Superior Court. The foursome pleaded not guilty at an arraignment Sept. 10, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
The seizures, which occurred throughout September, were led by San Diego police narcotics investigators with help from officers from the Northern Division and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
The investigation began after “a mysterious package landed at the wrong house,” police said.
San Diego police did not say where the seizures occurred, provide specific dates or give any further details as to the scope of the investigation.
Police seized methamphetamine, fake Adderall pills containing meth, cocaine, MDMA, Xanax and ketamine. The total estimated street value was put at roughly $767,000 to $1.1 million.
