SAN FRANCISCO – Behind Kaya Rosa’s team-leading eighth goal of the season and a career-high 13 saves from freshman goalkeeper Ava Wells, the Pacific women’s soccer program battled San Francisco to a 1-1 draw Saturday evening at Negoesco Stadium.

The Tigers (1-11-2, 0-3-2 WCC) earned their second point in West Coast Conference play, responding to a late deficit with an equalizer from Rosa in the 79th minute.

Rosa continued her impressive offensive campaign, converting a penalty kick mark to secure her eighth goal of 2026. The Newark, California native entered the weekend tied for fourth among WCC goal scorers with seven and further strengthened her position among the conference’s offensive leaders.

With eight goals, Rosa tied Jaida Nyby’s 2023 total for the most goals scored by a Pacific player in a single season since the Tigers rejoined the WCC in 2013. Rosa has now scored seven goals over her last eight appearances, including goals in four consecutive conference matches.

Wells delivered a standout performance between the posts, collecting a career-high 13 saves to keep Pacific within striking distance throughout the contest.

The freshman from Kennesaw, Georgia recorded eight saves in the opening half as the Dons (3-7-2, 0-4-1 WCC) generated 12 shots before halftime. Wells continued her strong play after the break, adding five saves to preserve the draw.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Dons broke through in the 78th minute when Elsie Parigi scored to establish a 1-0 advantage.

Pacific responded just 97 seconds later when Rosa converted from the penalty spot, bringing the Tigers level at 1-1.

The Tigers displayed increased offensive pressure in the second half, generating eight of their nine shots after halftime. Abigail Seawright, Addison Sanchez and Makayla Marin-Valencia each recorded a shot on goal, while Avery Thal contributed two attempts.

Defensively, Gianna Gagliano, Faylinn Berkowitz and Brooklyn Cornish each played the full 90 minutes, helping Pacific withstand San Francisco’s 21-shot attack.

The draw marked Pacific’s second consecutive tie against San Francisco following last season’s scoreless meeting in Stockton.

Up next, Pacific returns home to Knoles Field to host Pepperdine on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
