On Sunday, Oct. 4, nonprofit law center Pathways to Citizenship welcomed more than 200 partners, volunteers, clients, and supporters to its annual fundraiser, Party with a Purpose, an evening dedicated to providing hope and opportunity for eligible immigrant families on the road to U.S. citizenship, a news release stated.

Held at La Valle Coastal Club in Rancho Santa Fe, the festive event featured a steel drum band, tropical bites, silent auction, opportunity drawings, a wine pull, and stories from clients whose lives have been transformed by Pathways’ legal support.

Roger Kassy, Pathways’ client from Côte d’Ivoire, shared, “As I begin this new chapter as an American citizen, I make this promise: I will do my best to be the kind of citizen America can be proud of.”

The event raised more than $100,000 to support Pathways’ mission to provide free and low-cost immigration legal services for immigrant families in San Diego. Funds raised will directly support legal clinics, consultations, representation, and education for immigrants in San Diego County, the news release stated.

“Party with a Purpose is more than a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of resilience, hope, and the American dream,” said Pathways Executive Director Sonya Williams in the news release.

Authorized by the U.S. Department of Justice to practice immigration law in 2016, Pathways to Citizenship has helped thousands of immigrants from more than 60 countries on the path to citizenship.

Pathways “extends its heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors, clients, volunteers, partners, and guests who made Party with a Purpose so inspiring and impactful,” the news release stated.
