The first-ever Sacramento Tech Week kicked off Monday with the first of more than 30 events planned across the region.

The event is aimed at harnessing the area’s tech energy by bringing together local entrepreneurs, investors, engineers, creatives and community leaders for workshops, discussions and a chance to qualify for a $1 million investment prize offered at the global Startup World Cup finals in San Francisco.

The week ends with a summit on a topic that is creating a lot of buzz: the future of AI.

“It’s really how do we coexist with AI? Is it bad for us? If it’s bad for us, how do we navigate that? If it’s good, how do we navigate that?” said Dennis Delgado, a founding member of Sacramento Tech Week.

The “Tandem: A Human-First Tech Summit”, which includes multiple keynote speakers on the topic of AI, is scheduled for Saturday.

The public is invited to attend events throughout the week.

That includes the Startup World Cup Regional on the Sacramento State campus Tuesday evening.
