FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A special dedication ceremony was held to build a park honoring former California Lieutenant Governor Cruz Miguel Bustamante.

Cruz Miguel Bustamante was the first Latino elected to statewide office in California in more than 120 years, serving as the 45th lieutenant governor.

During the ceremony, councilmember Mike Karbassi said Cruz Bustamante’s story reflects the strength, resilience, and pride of the Central Valley.

The park will be located at the corner of Veterans and Barstow Avenues.
