The San Jose Sharks play on back-to-back nights on the road when they take on the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday.
The San Jose Sharks look to avoid a third straight loss as they head to Montreal on Tuesday. The Sharks have already lost four of their last five games, and their wins this season have all come in overtime or a shootout. San Jose is 4-4-1 overall and has nine points, which puts them fourth in the Pacific Division standings. San Jose is in the middle of a tough six-game road trip, with this being the fourth game of the away stand. The Sharks don’t get back home until next Tuesday, Oct. 27. San Jose started this road trip with a 3-2 shootout win against the Nashville Predators. They followed that up with a 4-3 shootout loss against the Detroit Red Wings. The Sharks are trying to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night. San Jose started off well against Toronto, scoring the first goal of the game in the first period, with Mason Marchment on the scoresheet. The Maple Leafs tied the game on the power play with an Auston Matthews goal with 12 seconds remaining in the second period. Gavin McKenna scored the game-winner on the power play in the third period, ending a three-game losing streak. Toronto scored on an empty net to ice the game. Things aren’t expected to get much better tonight for the Sharks, with Montreal holding a considerable -205 line to defend home ice.
