Police are investigating the death of a man who was found dead on the steps of an elementary school in Hollywood, law enforcement sources told NBC4 Investigates.
Emergency responders were called to Grant Elementary School Monday morning for a report of an unconscious man. Police officers and paramedics arrived at the scene and determined the man was dead.
Circumstances regarding the man’s death were not disclosed, but law enforcement sources said no foul play is suspected. They also added that the death does not appear to be suspicious.
The Los Angeles Unified School District issued a message to parents and guardians of students at the school on the matter.
“Please know, students remain safe, and we redirected students to enter a different part of the campus,” the district said. “LASPD will remain on-site to support the school until the matter is resolved. Thank you for your patience and understanding as this incident impacted drop-off. Dismissal procedures will continue as normal.”
The man’s identity was not released. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is working to determine a cause of death.
