Hard Rock Casino Tejon broke ground on the next major phase of the project on Wednesday.

Tejon Indian Tribe leaders, Hard Rock executives, elected officials and project partners took part in a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of the expansion.

The big picture: The expansion will add a 406-hotel room to the site, along with more gaming, dining and entertainment.

It will also provide convention and meeting space, resort-style pools and a full service spa.

What we’re watching: The expansion is expected to open in the summer of 2028.

Hard Rock expects the expansion will create more than 1,500 construction jobs during development, as well as 350 permanent positions once completed.

Flashback: Hard Rock Casino Tejon opened in November 2025 on Tejon Indian tribal land off of Highway 99 in Mettler.

The casino has 150,000 square feet of gaming space, 2,100 slot machines, more than 60 table games and multiple restaurants.

What they’re saying: Tejon Indian Tribe Chairman Octavio Escobedo III said the groundbreaking marked another historic milestone for the tribe.

“Hard Rock Casino Tejon has already created jobs, opportunity and economic benefits for our Tribe and the surrounding community,” Escobedo said. “This next investment builds upon that success and brings us closer to our long-term vision of creating a world-class resort destination that will serve our guests, strengthen our regional economy and create opportunities for generations to come.”

Mike Bean, the Property President of Hard Rock Casino Tejon, said the property has established itself as a premier gaming and entertainment destination in less than a year.

“The addition of hotel and these exceptional resort amenities will allow us to elevate the guest experience even further, attract visitors from across California and beyond, and create a true destination resort that reflects the energy, hospitality and entertainment Hard Rock is known for around the world,” Bean said.
