After closing their popular restaurant Lord Stanley in May 2025, Rupert and Carrie Blease are back on the San Francisco dining scene with their new restaurant Wolfsbane. This Dogpatch restaurant’s tasting menu flexes Rupert Blease’s skills in seasonal cooking.
The modern dining room, with its high ceilings and floating lanterns, has a cozy feel, despite the concrete look of the space. Although it’s a fine dining restaurant, Wolfsbane’s pace felt relaxed and not too buttoned up — a nice break from the austereness of its white tablecloth brethren.
The bar doesn’t require a reservation, so it’s easy enough to pop in and see if there’s space available. If so, you’re in luck — besides the bites from the kitchen, the cocktails and wine selections are well-considered and fun, such as a COS orange wine from Sicily.
