A Fresno police officer was on paid administrative leave on Thursday after being arrested twice in the same week for domestic violence-related incidents in Visalia, police confirmed.

Jacob Ryan Romero, 28, was arrested by Visalia police after a 911 call reported a family disturbance about 4:43 a.m. Oct. 12 on Noyes Court in a neighborhood in northwest Visalia, according to Liz Jones, the department’s spokesperson.

A temporary restraining order was issued after that incident, according to court records. The victim was an adult woman, Visalia police said.

He was arrested again three days later about 7:14 p.m. Oct. 15 at the same home northeast of Akers Street and Riggin Avenue, police said. The second incident was also domestic violence-related, and Romero resisted arrest, according to Visalia police.

Romero was placed on paid administrative leave, which is typical for an officer who is arrested, Fresno Lt. Brian Pierce confirmed. Romero was hired as a sworn officer in 2022.

The Tulare County District Attorney’s Office filed charges on Monday against Romero related to the second incident, the office confirmed. They said the first incident was considered a civil matter.

He faces four counts, including a felony for resisting an executive officer and misdemeanors for violating the restraining order and other obstruction charges. It was no immediately clear if he had an attorney.
