Some lanes of southbound State Route 163 at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard were closed on Thursday for several hours after a semi-truck hit the underside of the overpass, sending concrete pieces falling down onto the freeway below, Caltrans said.

California Highway Patrol closed the right two lanes of southbound SR-163 at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in Kearny Mesa around noon and alerted the public to expect delays in the area. By about 11 p.m., all lanes had reopened.

It has not been confirmed if debris was still falling off the overpass by the time lanes were reopened.
