The Small Business Saturday tradition returns for the 17th year on Nov. 28. The DDA asks people to shop local and shop small.

The DDA has encouraged small businesses to offer special discounts, promotions and giveaways during the two-day celebration, which includes a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree. People can enter the contest by texting a photo of a Rochester shop’s receipt and “SHOPSMALL” to (866) 603-4005. The winner will be contacted by Wednesday, Dec. 9.

The city’s other holiday attractions include downtown Rochester’s Big, Bright Light Show, which runs from 5 p.m. to midnight Nov. 23, 2026, through Jan. 17, 2027.
