A passenger was killed in a rollover crash in Del Mar Friday night after the driver lost control and the car flipped into the front yard of a home, authorities said.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said a woman driving a 2008 BMW sedan with two passengers lost control of the vehicle around 9:41 p.m. as she attempted to pass a car on Camino Del Mar near the mouth of the San Dieguito River.
Drugs or alcohol were believed to be a factor in the crash, sheriff’s deputies said.
Authorities said the driver attempted to pass a car on the right before losing control, flipping over and landing in the front yard of a home. One man died at the scene, another passenger and the driver were taken to the hospital, deputies said.
The name of the man who died was not released.
