FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — The Fresno Chaffee Zoo announced that the two red wolves will be transferred to new homes.
The Fresno Chaffee Zoo has two red wolves named Cypress and Daisy.
The wolves arrived at the zoo at young ages several years ago.
The red wolf is only found in the United States of America but is critically endangered.
There are fewer than 25 wolves left.
The zoo says that Cypress and Daisy have not bred with any other wolves and that there has been no chemistry between them.
The wolves are part of a reintroduction program with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
The wolves will be transferred to new partners in the hope of raising the wolf population.
