MISSOULA, Mont. — Jalen Brown scored 20 points and Montana outlasted CSU Bakersfield 84-78 in overtime Saturday night in an exhibition at Dahlberg Arena.
The Grizzlies’ new faces made an immediate impact. Brown, a transfer from Cal State Dominguez Hills, led Montana in scoring. Jordan Clark, who joined the Griz from Central Washington, had seven assists, while Clayton Mpiana recorded 10 rebounds. The newcomers gave Montana a glimpse of how they might help replace the production of departed guard Money Williams.
Montana scored 12 points in overtime while holding the Roadrunners to six. The Griz finished with 28 field goals and 10 3-pointers, and committed just nine turnovers.
CSU Bakersfield had the edge on the glass, outrebounding Montana 50-39, and recorded 19 assists. Jaden Alexander led all scorers with 24 points, and Kjay Bradley had 10 assists.
The exhibition was the public debut for a Montana team with 10 newcomers. The Grizzlies open the regular season Nov. 2 at Oregon.
This was an exhibition, so the result does not count toward either team’s regular-season record.
