A person who was stabbed early Monday on a Muni bus in the Western Addition was in serious condition at a hospital as police searched for a suspect.
Officers were called at about 1:13 a.m. to Laguna and McAllister streets for a report of a stabbing, according to the San Francisco Police Department. Officers found a wounded bus passenger and gave aid until medics arrived, police said.
The suspect had fled the Muni 5 bus before the officers arrived. Police searched the area but did not find the attacker, the SFPD said. No description of the suspect was released.
The San Francisco Fire Department said it responded with a private ambulance crew that took the unidentified victim to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, arriving at 1:26 a.m.
The victim was stabbed in the head and chest, according to a post on the Citizen app (opens in new tab).
“We’re grateful that the victim’s injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening and wish them a full recovery,” the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency said in a statement.
On Sept. 23, a passenger on the 14 Mission bus was slashed in the throat, allegedly by another passenger who had been menacing two women on the bus. Police arrested the suspect.
The SFMTA said police-investigated aggravated assaults on Muni fell from 1,089 in 2019 to 307 through July 2026, a drop of almost 72%.
