Sometimes we feel helpless, those of us who want to help women on their cancer journey.

One way to share support can also help you. Donate items from your home or go shopping.

Breast Cancer Awareness: Shopping to help survivors (FOX26)

The Discovery Shop on Bullard and West in Fresno is a thrift shop where all money raised goes toward cancer research, patient services and education.

Everything here – furniture, clothes, shoes, housewares, even wigs – are donated.

Not everything is pink in honor of breast cancer survivors, but you’ll find a good selection of pink here.

You’ll also find a lot of support from women who know that cancer journey, like volunteer, Margie Soltero.

“I’ve been through this 4 times. I know. And they start asking questions because they don’t know what’s in the future for them. And I don’t know. Everyone is different. But I tell them a little bit and they light up. And it makes their journey lighter, I think,” said Soltero.

Manager Bonnie O’neal is proud of the support they give to survivors.

“We also have a program called road to recovery where a volunteer is assigned to that cancer patient to take them to and from cancer treatment. The drivers are normally going through or have gone through that same type of cancer,” said O’neal.

Volunteers and donations are always welcome seven days a week.

Men are welcome too, to buy or make donations.
