BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The City of Bakersfield announced 18th Street between L and O Streets will be closed to traffic starting Wednesday, October 28.

The City said it is part of the 18th & 19th Streets Corridor Improvement Project that began in April of this year.

The work is expected to be completed by Friday, November 6.

City officials said most work will be performed during the day, and the road will open to traffic after each daily work shift.

Access to nearby businesses and residences will be maintained throughout the work.

Detours will be provided at the nearest intersecting streets.

Drivers should expect traffic delays and are advised to use alternate routes or allow additional travel time through the area.

The City thanks the public for its patience and understanding during the completion of these improvements.

Construction work may be postponed and rescheduled without notice due to inclement weather and other unforeseen conditions.
