The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) this month opened the new 7th & Railyards Station. The new station expands light-rail access for the growing Railyards development, an urban infill project which includes new residential neighborhoods, retail and entertainment spots, a hospital campus and the future Major League Soccer stadium.
The station is located on 7th Street and is served by the Green Line. Its opening brings SacRT’s total number of light-rail stations to 55. In September, SacRT opened the Dos Rios Station on the Blue Line. Together, the new stations expand access and support continued development throughout the Sacramento region, SacRT officials said in a press release.
SacRT did not fund the 7th & Railyards station; the Railyards developer was responsible for funding and building the new light-rail station, with support from a slate of federal, state and local grants.
