The driver of what appeared to be a work truck was killed after the vehicle crashed into a tree in east Anaheim Monday afternoon.
Officers responded to the area of Santa Ana Canyon Road and Eucalyptus Drive around 4:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a major traffic collision.
“Although the stage of the investigation is very preliminary, our investigation indicates that the driver of the pickup truck, a male adult, was driving westbound on Santa Ana Canyon Road when he struck the tree,” Anaheim Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Eric Anderson said.
Responding police and fire personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Footage of the crash aftermath obtained by KTLA showed extensive damage to the truck, with a tree embedded in the engine compartment, forcing the hood back toward the windshield. The truck’s cab also sustained significant damage.
