OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — The annual “Bike the Coast” event on Saturday saw more than 1,300 participants biking across the San Diego County coast to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Cyclists of all ages had multiple routes to choose from, from 15-mile family rides to 100-mile rides. Bike the Coast raised over $10,000 for the National MS Society, an organization supporting MS cure research and other advocacy. The event was produced by Spectrum Sports Management.
“This event is truly an iconic ride that showcases beautiful North County San Diego with an incredibly supportive community,” CEO of Spectrum Sports Management Mike Bone said in a news release.

Those on the 25-, 50- and 100-mile paths biked through North County coastal towns such as Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach and Del Mar. Cyclists on the seven- and 15-mile routes went through the San Luis Rey River Trail.
MS is a disease that impacts the central nervous system, causing symptoms like fatigue, memory issues and mood changes. Additionally, an estimated one million people in the U.S. have MS, according to Bike the Coast.
Bike the Coast organizers said this is the second year in a row that they raised over $10,000 for Bike MS.
“Every year I look forward to working with the local organizations to put on an event that provides the opportunity for others to see such a beautiful coast and raise money for a great cause,” Bone said.
