The NWS has issued winter weather advisories for the Greater Lake Tahoe area, the eastern Sierra slopes, and the northern Sierra Nevada’s west slope.

Wet snow, with up to four inches above 8,000 feet and two inches between 7,500 and 8,000 feet are possible for the Greater Lake Tahoe area, the NWS said in an alert in effect from 10 p.m. Thursday to noon PST Friday.

The eastern Sierra slopes are expected to see up to four inches between 8,500 and 9,500 feet. Above this, four to 12 inches are possible, the NWS said, adding that winds could also gust as high as 50 miles per hour.

“There remains uncertainty in the timing, snow levels, and snow amounts with this system. Changes to the forecast are possible as details become more clear,” said the NWS.

Travelers on Highway 168 near Aspendell should plan on slippery road conditions, the agency said. This alert is in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. PST Friday.
