Coroner ID’s woman found dead in south Bakersfield in August

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a 24-year-old woman who was found in south Bakersfield on Aug. 19.

Coroner officials said Khalaya Tarea Lampkin Blackmon, 24, of Bakersfield was found on Aug. 19 in the 4000 block of El Potrero Lane around 2 p.m.

The cause of her death was determined to be neck compression and the manner is homicide, according to coroner officials.

The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating this case.

Police previously told 17 News Blackmon was found in an encampment on a property adjacent to a canal in the area.
