Disneyland’s new parking structure won’t open in time for the expansion of Avengers Campus or the Los Angeles Summer Olympics in 2028 with construction of the 6,000-space garage expected to take nearly three years.

Disneyland recently told nearby residents at a community meeting that construction of the Eastern Gateway parking structure is expected to continue into early 2029, according to Disneyland officials.

The estimated timeline could change as Disneyland navigates construction over the next few years, according to Disneyland officials.

Disneyland has not yet announced an opening date for the new parking structure.

The extended timeline reflects the extensive planning, permitting and inspection process required in the City of Anaheim, according to MiceChat.

“They built all of Disneyland in just one year in 1955, but it will take them at least two and a half years to build this garage,” according to MiceChat.

Disneyland began construction in August on the new eastside parking structure and transportation hub that will include a shuttle bus and ride share drop off/pick up area as part of the $1.9 billion DisneylandForward project.

The 6,000-space eastside garage will help absorb the flood of visitors coming to see the new Avengers Campus expansion, Avatar themed land, Coco boat ride and reimagined Tomorrowland debuting at the Anaheim theme park resort over the next five years.

The new parking structure and transportation hub on the east side of the theme park resort will push the existing Disneyland bus drop off/pick up area along Harbor Boulevard to Disneyland’s Manchester employee parking lot that backs up to the I-5 Freeway.

A pedestrian bridge will connect visitors by foot between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure on the west side of Harbor Boulevard and the new parking structure on the east side of Harbor Boulevard.
